The Reunion Celebration
What a fabulous day it was! The committee’s excitement was obvious the day before the event as we prepared for the arrival of approximately 150 people to celebrate Dover Gardens Technical High School’s 60-year opening anniversary.
The weather could not have been better at approximately 23 – 25°. We are so fortunate that Patritti has allowed us to use this space for this event at no charge. The Patritti staff have been magnificently supportive from day one. By the way, the organising committee had been working together for nearly a year. That included regular committee meetings where, as always, we were met with smiling faces from the staff offering to make us tea or coffee.
From the committee’s perspective, it was the culmination of a lot of hard work, with each committee member bringing their specific skill set to the table.
Initially, we were concerned about how many people we could reach. The exciting thing is that we had hoped we would achieve the goal of about 150 attendees, and we did.
The day started quite early because, as you can imagine, we had to complete last-minute set-up. The day went like clockwork. Here are more pictures on the Old Scholars’ Facebook Page
We were so pleased to hear of old friends reuniting after many years and reliving their days at DGGTHS. We are grateful to Lou Sedivy, who put together the videos shown on the day. There are three in this group: In Memoriam with the School Hymn – The Lord Is My Shepard, a short 5-minute video that originally had the music; ‘Those Were The Days’, which was swapped out due to copyright and a longer version where copyright free music has been added. Helen Hartley has produced the two others. Photos taken are credited to Ian Fisk and some from Helen Hartley. We hope you enjoy the memories.
